In the meantime

This hot weather is very annoying, you don’t get to do anything, darn, it’s even too hot to read !
Maybe the ones who saw me at Bookfest know i was really scattering to find Longman, i did, it was at the first floor, but i was rather dissapointed that i did not find the dictionary i wanted to buy, so i spent my money then on other cool books. Recently, some money turned up to me , as reward of my weariness. So i thought with these ones i really have to get that dictionary ( Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English…i had once the chance to turn over its pages and i found it really helpful, contains both new and old english words, therefore, because i had no serious english dictionary at home i had to have one ) and i started to use my friend google until the moment i found Longman’s website. I searched for the dictionary and there it was ! I did the formalities and already begin to seethe. I knew these english dictionaries made by Macmillan or Longman are pretty cool, they have lot of words, nice explanations and examples as well as some orientative ilustrations, i took Longman’s one because someone advised me this is better than Macmillan’s, i said ok. The cool thing about it, it’s that i am to receive 2 cds along with the dictionary, to use it on the computer too.
In 4 days i had the dictionary, it’s pretty cool, and his virtual edition works pretty well.
I continue to feel very woozy because of this unbearable hot weather. I will pretty soon start to redecorate my flat and there will be lots of mess and dirt, but i guess everybody does it, yesterday when i was wandering across my neighbourhood’s street the sound made by all those machines was almost stereo so i guess they’ll be happy to hear another satellite to all this mass surround system.
This is buggering me !
LE : I’m currently reading Spark’s The Wedding ( which you can see in the library thing widget, its cover i mean ) , long story short, it’s about two people that have been married for 30 years now and after all these years, they ( well mostly he ) try to regain the passion, it’s pretty cool, it’s not that cheesy romance or shit,no, of course it has romantic things all over it but they’re said with a rather serious tone, so i guess that’s ok, i hope i’ll finish it today

BookFest : Day 2

Am fost si sambata in fuga pe la bookfest pentru a-mi cumpara cartile pe care le ochisem cu o zi inainte. Rau am facut. M-am dus acolo pe la ora 1-2 sa fi fost…aleea aceea care duce spre pavilionul central era intesata de lume ( ceea ce nu pot eu sa suport la astfel de evenimente sunt copii Stephen King – Povestea lui Lisey , Mircea Cartarescu – Rem , Patrick Suskind – Parfumul si Chuck Palahniuk – Bantuitii sunt cartile pe care mi le-am permis , si pot sa spun ca toate erau dorite. Chiar daca Rem nu era dorit , dupa ce am citit-o m-am felicitat ca nu am facut greseala sa iau alta carte. Asadar , sambata era lume multa, foarte multa… cel putin la Humanitas abia am putut sa iau Parfumul de pe raft, a trebuit sa trantesc vre-o doua pardon ! . Mda. All in all a fost misto, chiar daca a fost fugitiv.

BookFest : Day 1

Tocmai am venit de la bookfest, am plecat de pe la vreo 3 si am ajuns acasa abia acum ( 19:19 )
La dus am prins un 335 foarteeee liber si am putut sa stau si jos si sa dormitez asa…defapt era o stare de letargie, un fel de incercare de adunare a puterilor pentru fest.
La intrare in pavilionul central, in care se si desfasoara bookfestul, am fost foarte putin surprins, totul era cam ca deobicei, probabil si asezarea standurilor era la fel ( sau poate nu…acum parca au alte marimi ) si desigur, toti oamenii care gasesc o mare placere in a sta pe scarile premergatoare micii fantani.
Am luat-o usor la pas, aveam o mica listuta cu carti dupa care sa ma uit ( la pret ) urmand a le lua maine sau poimanine, azi a fost un fel de scouting,dar a meritat, a fost bine. Vorbeam ieri de faptul ca sunt curios cat or lasa cei de la nemira la Lisey, ei bine…de la 51,pretul de librarie, au lasat pana la 42. Nici nu ma asteptam la mai mult, ma mir ca nu au lasat pana la 49 sau chiar 45.Mdea.
Poliromul avea un stand mai mare dar care nu avea titlurile pe care le cautam eu, ce ironic.
la Tritonic, Jen pazea cartile in timp ce ionuca impartea fluturasi, am fost placut surprins sa stiu ca dl. Horia Nicola Ursu imi citeste blogul, si am avut aceeasi senzatie cand dl. Hrib m-a cunoscut intr-un fel. pe de alta parte, tritonicii au niste reduceri bunicele, mai ales la hardcoveruri.
In timp ce povesteam una-alta cu Jen, venise acolo o doamna si intreba ce gen sunt cartile astea, daca sunt sf ( adica Pulbere de Stele si Amberurile ) , si mai ales daca contin politica, dansa fiind foarte convinsa de faptul ca orice carte sf are ceva legat de politica, dl.Hrib incerca sa-o lamureasca insa doamna era foarte suspicioasa ( intr-un fel ) ; pana la urma a cumparat Pulbere de Stele si vol. 1 din Amber .
Cautand Longman, am dat peste ceva foarte dragut la etajul 1 al pavilionului, erau un fel de postere destul de marisoare cu autorii nostri cunoscuti ( aveau si cu Eliade , si era doar 3 lei posteru…maine imi iau ! ) .
Humanitasul , ca deobicei, au avut un stand imens dar foarte variat ( am gasit si Parfumul, care pe site-ul lor nu mai este in stoc, maine il iau ! ) , aveau cartile asezate pe colectii, si am gasit si cartile lui Cartarescu , nu stiu daca erau toate, dar asa pareau. Erau multe.
La plecare am fost intrigat pana peste culme de urmatoarea scena : in timp ce eu urcam scarile spre iesire, dinspre intrare venea Ion Cristoiu, paralele cu mine, pe scari ( dar stand pe loc , normal ) era un grup de pustoaice de vreo 14-15 ani care atunci cand l-au vazut pe Cristoiu au inceput “mamaaaa,ala e Cristoiu ? ” replica urmand “da fata, el e !!!”…urmata de istericale. Nu stiu de ce dar am impresia ca Ion Cristoiu, daca macar a aruncat o privire spre ele, ar fi fost una incarcata de dezgust.
later edit : dupa ce m-am uitat pe pliantele de la Tritonic, am vazut ca maine intre 12 si 14 va fi acolo Marian Coman la un fel de sesiune de autografe, minunat! sper sa obtin si eu unul pe Nopti Albe, Zile Negre !
